Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Sedona Wolf Sanctuary a non-profit organization?
Yes, we are a registered 501(c)3 and non-profit organization in the State of Arizona (EIN: 92-1177534) that is dedicated to the prevention of animal cruelty, providing a safe, comfortable space for our rescued wolves to live, as well as a one-of-a-kind spiritual wolf experience for our visitors that offers healing and education about these beautiful creatures in a way that honors our ancestors and respects the rich native history of this land.
What happens during a wolf visit experience?
Each party will get an intimately guided tour that includes an in depth educational orientation followed by an organic wolf experience inside their enclosures, meaning we do not force the wolves to come up to you and it is completely up to them whether or not they want to directly interact (but don’t worry, they often do!). In addition, we will take you on a journey to experience medicine wheels, sacred sites, and help feel connected to nature on a deeper way, while keeping your intention in mind for your unique experience to unfold with the wolves.
How do I book an appointment for a wolf visit?
Call us at (928) 389-1321 or you can book online as well.
How long is the experience?
The entire experience/wolf visit lasts about 2 hours to visit all the wolves, receive the educational orientation, and get the full experience of the various spiritual exercises/sacred sites included throughout the property.
How can the wolves help me with spirituality and healing?
Many Native Americans viewed the wolves as a teacher or guide, sacred important figures to their life and journeys. They even believed that God roamed the earth in the form of wolves. Their connection to the spirit world is felt and seen in the presence of wolves, especially if you have the chance to touch them or look them directly in the eyes. There’s a reason why we call it wolf magic… We are passionate about wolf medicine and certainly elaborate on this during your experience.
What is the price per person for a wolf experience?
There is a required donation of $111 per person (each guest must be ages 18+). Cash is preferred and easier but we can also do Paypal and Venmo (with an added transaction fee) - pay upon arrival. We highly recommend contacting us ASAP to ensure we can accommodate accordingly on the date/time of your choosing as spots fill quickly and reservations are required. Click here to make a booking.
The STANDARD wolf experience ($111pp) group sizes range anywhere from 8-14+ people in the experience. For those wanting exclusively PRIVATE bookings (nobody else joining the experience with you), it is $1500 - which includes up to 12 people. Groups larger than 12 are $77pp. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a PRIVATE booking, we will provide instructions on how to send payment digitally at the time of booking.
I am a party of one, can I still do the Wolf Experience?
Yes absolutely, we will make sure to add you with a group time slot at the standard rate ($111pp). We have many solo visitors join us, no problem. Another option is you could do a Private booking if you’d like to do the experience with only you, see “pricing” question above for more details.
Can someone sit outside of the enclosures and “watch” while I’m in during the wolf experience? Is the fee same?
This option is only available for those who book an exclusively private visit. Please refer to the question above for pricing (also, donation amount applies to everyone on the property whether or not they participate).
What should I wear to the sanctuary?
We highly recommend that you wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. Shoes are required, and closed toe shoes are preferred. Please refrain from very fuzzy/puffy or loose/dangling clothing including large earrings, clothes with tassels, scarves, big hats, etc. Absolutely no fur boots, fur jackets, fur fringe, or fur in general. Avoid leather. Sunglasses will need to be removed while inside the enclosures. No loose articles or bags inside the enclosures. See “what not to bring” below, as well as “cameras” question for more information about photography.
Is this an outdoor experience?
Yes. We want you to feel comfortable, so we have plenty of shaded areas, trees, and seating/benches throughout the experience and in each of the enclosures as well. We also provide mini water bottles to you during the visit so you can stay hydrated. There is a restroom station onsite as well.
Where do your wolves come from? What type are they?
Our wolves are all rescues, mainly from people who tried to have them as private pets and it did not go well for them. They are all domesticated and have been deemed to not survive in the wild prior to being placed at our sanctuary. They come from situations where they were neglected, abused, or unable to have the proper care they deserved. To be clear, these animals would have been euthanized if they were not rescued by us. Our sanctuary is a permanent placement, dedicated to caring for the wolves for the rest of their lives and giving them a second chance to survive, while also providing purpose and enrichment with our guest experiences. We absolutely do not breed, in fact they are all fixed. They are a mix of different types of wolves. We have both wolves and wolfdog, as part of the experience you get to be in with both and we educate you on the differences. We share this info and educate our guests in much more detail during our wolf experience, and we are very passionate about this work.
What type of care do you provide to the wolves?
All of our animals receive top of the line veterinary care by highly trained professionals, they are closely monitored daily by our team, and several have very high monthly needs to take care of their health properly. Their enclosures require constant maintenance, upkeep, and cleaning with industrial grade materials. In addition, they receive a high caliber diet of human grade raw meat, in order to ensure they have the best nutrition possible. We have several full time staff members that help make this possible behind the scenes for our wolves and our guests. We deeply care about these animals in every regard, have dedicated our lives to this work, and do our best to give them a high quality of life while at the sanctuary. We are happy to elaborate on our work or answer any questions during your wolf experience with our guides.
Do you accept walk-in visits?
No. All visits are strictly by appointment only, and must be confirmed via phone in advance. If you are looking to book a last-minute visit, call us at (928) 389-1321 and we will do our best to accommodate. If there are changes to the size of your party we must know ahead of time as well to make sure we can accommodate accordingly.
What happens if there is inclement weather?
In the event of bad weather (rain, snow, etc), please give us a call and we will attempt to contact you as well to make adjustments accordingly.
Where are you located?
Our ranch is located in Rimrock, AZ right on the edge of Sedona. We will provide exact directions during the confirmation of your appointment.
What are the hours of operation?
We operate 7 days a week, strictly by appointment only. Call (928) 389-1321 or book online today to get more insight regarding availability. We close for the holidays on Thanksgiving and Christmas day.
Is this a fully accessible experience? Is there a lot of walking?
The experience is very accessible-friendly. It is completely outdoors and requires light walking from one enclosure to another on mostly flat trail paths. We can accommodate most wheelchairs, walkers, etc. Please see “what not to bring” below for more detail. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions - (928) 389-1321
What not to bring to the experience?
For safety reasons with our wolves the following are not allowed.
-No pets and no service animals on the property
-No walkers and walking canes in the wolf enclosures (You’ll need to be able to walk with the assistance of other people for 20 feet while in the enclosures.) Walkers can be used on the property outside the enclosures. Wheel chairs ARE allowed, but need to be approved prior to arrival.
-No electronic equipment or any equipment that makes noises of any kind. (Cell phones must be silenced.) Medical devices, if needed, must be completely silent and hidden.
-No photographic or video equipment larger than a cell phone. No GoPros or equivalents. No selfie sticks.
-Nothing that makes noise, i.e. decorative bells
-No food or snacks on you
Are cameras or professional photography allowed?
Only mobile phone cameras are allowed during the wolf experience. No other technology is allowed besides cellphones in the enclosures. If you’d like to take photos with a camera, a Private booking is required. See “price per person” question above for details about Private bookings.
Age requirement - are children or kids allowed?
No sorry, we can only do age 18+. We recommend “Out of Africa” nearby for a more kid-friendly option.
What is your weapons policy?
We have a strict no weapons of any kind policy, and you will be required to sign a waiver upon entry agreeing to comply for the entire time that you are on the property.
What is your drug and alcohol policy?
All guests must appear 100% sober. Period. Smoking, drug, and alcohol use is strictly prohibited. All guests must comply with our rules and listen to the guides throughout the experience to ensure maximum safety for all involved. We reserve the right to refuse guests without refund or end visits early at any moment throughout the experience.
Are there Gift Certificates available for purchase?

Gift certificates are not refundable, transferable, redeemable for cash and must be redeemed only by the assigned name. I love your work and I’d like to give a donation to support the cause. How can I donate?
You can click here to donate online via PayPal or Venmo. Thanks in advance for your support!
I recently visited - how can I write a review online?
Amazing! You can visit our trip advisor page here or our google listing here.
Are you currently open for new adoptions, surrendering, or rehoming?
No, at the moment our non-profit sanctuary is full. As much as we’d love to help, please do not contact us about if we can take in your wolf/dog. We are simply not a large-scale rescue/shelter, however there are many great resources out there that can point you in the right direction such as: wolfsanctuary.co/rescue
Do you sell/trade/breed?
No. Absolutely not. In fact, we spay/neuter our residents upon arrival if they haven’t already. We NEVER purchase animals from breeders, as that wouldn’t be a true rescue. We are a forever home dedicated to the lifelong care of our rescues at the highest degree.
When are the wolves most active?
We have not found that our pack is “more active” at certain times of the day. We believe that it’s more about your energy than anything else that affects the experience and whether or not they feel interested in interacting. Please note, during the hot summer months we do NOT do visits mid-day, as it is too hot - our bookings will be either early morning or late afternoon.
Do you provide translators?
No, all guests must understand English and be able to follow directions provided by the guides throughout the experience in English. This is very important for safety.
Are you on social media?
Yes! Make sure to follow us on facebook or on our instagram page now.
